Architektin Iris Reiter und Leb Idris Architektur konnten in Graz, Steiermark, ein kleines Baufeld rund um eine historische Villa in ein Zentrum für die steirische Start-Up-Szene transformieren.
Das entstandene Ensemble besteht aus 3 Bauten. Zentral findet sich der historische Baukörper. Dieser bietet heute großzügige Bereiche für eine Cafeteria und Co-Working-Spaces. Das Dachgeschoß wurde neu formiert und dient heute als zeitgemäßes Konferenzdeck - samt Terrassen und Brücke zum Neubau. Dachgeometrie und Materialität integrieren den Altbau in das Gefüge mit den zwei flankierenden Neubauten.
Die neuen Kubaturen, zwei- und sechsgeschoßig, beheimaten Büros und universitäre Infrastruktur, etwa einen Copy-Shop. Neu und Alt fügen sich angenehm aneinander. Die hohe Baudichte führt, dank viel Feingefühl in der Ausgestaltung, zu einer Vielzahl von räumlich spannenden Situationen – im Innen- und Außenraum.

Architect Iris Reiter and Leb Idris Architektur have joined forces to transform a small building site and historic villa, situated in Graz - Styria, into a center serving the start-up scene.
The resulting ensemble consists of 3 buildings, with the historic building in the center. There are spacious areas for a cafeteria and co-working spaces. The top floor has been redesigned and now serves as a contemporary conference deck - including terraces and a bridge to the new building. The roof geometry and materials integrate the old building into a structure with the two new buildings flanking each side.
The new buildings, two and six stories respectively, house offices and infrastructure for the university, including a copy shop. New and old blend comfortably together. Thanks to the sensitivity of the design, a high building density leads to a large number of spatially exciting situations - both inside and out.
