SLO ITA AUT, a follow-up event of Architekturschwerpunkt (architectural focus) 2006: Slovenia (SLO), is a conference series in three parts between three countries, which will again serve the exchange of expertise, fostering acquaintances between architects and people interested in architecture across the borders. Just like in 2006, ZV Steiermark (Styrian central organisation of architects) act as initiator und co-ordinator, having developed the concept in close collaboration with partners in both Slovenia and Italy.
Under the changed circumstances in a unified Europe, SLO ITA AUT revives the idea of the Trigon. In the late 1960ies and 70ies of the past century it was about creating networks for intellectual and artistic exchange beyond political and ideological borders. Equally today it is a major concern of the architectural community to mutually approach one another and fruitfully exchange ideas and architectural know how.

SLO ITA AUT in Graz
The series of conferences involving three neighbouring countries, SLO ITA AUT kicks off on Friday, January 16th, 2009 at the Haus der Architektur in Graz. Seven teams from Slovenia and Italy will present their works as well as their work structures by means of short presentations and will subsequently discuss the issues they have in common and their differences. Furthermore attention is to be directed beyond national borders to existing networks, how these come into being, their efficiency and potential for optimisation.

The kick-off in Graz is followed by the 2nd conference in Trieste on Friday, February 6th, 2009, combined with an architectural field-trip on the following day. Events will be concluded by the conference in Ljubljana, most likely on March 13th, 2009. Venues for Trieste and Ljubljana are yet to be announced. Architects from the corresponding neighbouring countries will be invited to the conferences in Italy and Slovenia.
