"Slovenia and Austria: Everybody for himself or together we are strong?"
Wednesday, May 31, 2006, 7 p.m.
at HDA Graz, Engelgasse 3-5
It is not only from a historical point of view that Slovenia has always been seen as a culture in transition. Facing Slovenia’s currently booming economy, the country is internationally orientated nowadays as well. The supra-national ambition of many building investments in Slovenia still is in contrast to a peculiar national closeness of Slovenian architects, that don’t seem to welcome foreign architects building in Slovenia. Furthermore, cooperation projects that have been initiated between Austria and Slovenia to date have had a tendency to trickle away into the sand without achieving results. As both countries share similar interests, the issue of regional cooperation none-the-less remains an open one in the sense of long term sustainability. Does a mutual interest in regional cooperation exist, and if so what form could this take?
