"Medium Size City: Opportunities for urban development in Ljubljana"
Wednesday, April 26th, 2006, 7 p.m.
at HDA Graz, Engelgasse 3-5
Ljubljana and Graz are not only linked by a recently completed motorway that has cut the distance between the two cities to a two hour car journey. Both are participants in an inter-regional competition in location attractiveness as medium sized cities. While Graz is promoting itself as a city of the arts, Ljubljana is busy trying to find an image. It is precisely this lack of a clear image that has turned the Slovenian capital into a playing field for investors and real estate speculators as well as a laboratory for urban development utopias. Is there cause for euphoria?
